Vapor smoothing goes well beyond powder bed nylon. AMT’s consumables page lists a much wider set of materials. Here is what is published beyond PA11, PA12, TPU and PP.
With FA326 (SF50 and SF100)
- Rigid plastics: PA6, ABS, PC, PBT, ASA, PETG, as well as PA11 and PA12.
- Elastomers: TPE as well as TPU.
- Composites: glass, carbon or mineral-filled.
- Technologies: SLS, MJF, SAF, and extrusion (FFF, FDM).
FA326 is listed as compatible with 100+ thermoplastics.
With PostPro Pure
- High performance: ULTEM and ONYX, including FDM parts in those materials.
- Composites: glass, carbon or mineral-filled.
- CNC-machined plastics: PC, PEI and PMMA. Yes, machined parts as well as printed ones.
Before you try something new
- Check the grade-level compatible materials lists on the documents page.
- Ask AMT, or send parts for a benchmark. Results on a new material are worth sharing here.
Over to you: what is the most unusual material you have smoothed? Tell us what worked and what did not.
