For its 2022 full-size SUVs, GM needed 60,000 spoiler closeout seals, and needed them quickly or risk delaying 30,000 vehicles. The parts were printed on HP MJF in BASF Ultrasint TPU01 with GKN Additive (Forecast 3D), and finished with PostPro vapor smoothing.
Why it matters
It shows vapor smoothing as a production step, at volume, on a flexible material, for a part that goes on a car people buy. The case study is from 2023, so the program is a few years old now, and it is still a clear published example of smoothing at production scale.
