TPU lattices are some of the most striking parts to come out of a vapor smoothing cycle. AMT’s own examples include the lattice bicycle saddle on the vapor smoothing page (captioned MJF TPU), and two published projects in BASF Ultrasint TPU01:
- a whitepaper that measured surface roughness going from 13.42 µm to 1.18 µm after PostPro vapor smoothing (published Nov 2022);
- GM’s spoiler closeout seals: 60,000 parts, needed quickly to avoid delaying 30,000 vehicles (case study published Jan 2023).
Lattices are also the parts where racking takes the most thought: they are flexible, they have a lot of surface, and they can have many possible contact points.
Questions we would love your answers to
- How do you hang or support a soft lattice so it keeps its shape?
- Where do you put contact points on a part that is mostly struts?
- How many lattice parts do you fit in a run, and how do you space them?
- Anything you tried that did not work?
Photos of your racks are the most useful answer. Tell us the material, the printer and the machine. Please do not post customer parts without permission.
